Children’s home Haighton are recruiting for Waking Night Support Workers now!
We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and passionate people to become an integral part of our support team. In this role, you will support our young people and you will be required to be alert and observant at all times. In addition to regular checks on the children and young people you will be assigned additional tasks.

As a member of our residential care team, you will strive to bring out the best in every young person by supporting and guiding them in their daily lives. This could be in the form of helping the young person at school, accompanying them to take part in an activity (walking, horse riding, trampolining, Duke of Edinburgh etc.) or simply assisting them in completion of general daily tasks, including morning and night time routines.

Experience isn’t always essential but there are a few characteristics you will need to be successful in this role:
Resilience We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.
Communication Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
Organisation You’ll need to be confident and organised in updating care plans and reporting information that will be relevant to the care of our young people.
Caring Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.
Attentive No young person / situation is the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important and alert within any situation.
