Senior Environmental Officer - Global Chemical Manufacturer near Blackpool: Up to £51.7k+Package

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Senior Environmental Officer to join a leading Global Chemical Manufacturing Company based in Blackpool.

This permanent position is perfectly suited for Environmental professionals with a robust background in environmental management & sustainability within the Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Construction or Process Industries.

Reporting into the Environmental Manager, the Senior Environmental Officer will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Environmental Manager and Head of Sustainability with development and implementation of Sustainability action plans.
  • Accountable for delivery of emissions reduction in accordance Carbon Footprint goals.
  • Accountable for data collection and reporting to assure compliance with ESG reporting requirements (including carbon and energy reporting)
  • Development and implementation of a company-wide Sustainability training and employee engagement scheme to support a behavioural and cultural change with regards to Sustainability issues.
  • Work with the Senior Quality Manager to deliver internal & external audit programme


The schemes will cover the full spectrum from "hands on" with the operating team, to advising managers of the implications of SHE legislation / Best Practice.

Required Skills and Qualifications for Senior Environmental Officer Role:

  • Environmental & Sustainability: Experience in a Manufacturing, Production, Construction, Process or Engineering environment, within an Environmental and /or Sustainability, a Quality or Continuous Improvement function.
  • Environment Management & Sustainability Standards: Experience with industry standards related to environmental management & sustainability. Deep understanding of the latest trends and regulations in environmental management to maintain the forefront position of the company in the market.
  • Experience in internal / external auditing (inc. supplier audits)
  • IEMA - Ideally hold IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) Associate Member or equivalent
  • Experience of working on the implementation and supporting the maintenance of Sustainability improvements / Environmental Management Systems
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office and Management Systems).
  • Ability to Influence and persuade without direct line authority.
  • Self-motivated and able to plan manage, influence and work with minimum supervision/input.
