Process Technician/Process Engineer

Please note this position will be on a 3-shift rotation, alternating weekly between afternoons (14:00-22:00), mornings (06:00-14:00) and nights (22:00-06:00).

Main purpose of the job

This position will be an integral part of the processing team providing support at our Scunthorpe facility.

Main missions and results

  • Monitor/maintain current cycle times against Mattec (MES).
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings i.e. cycle times, material usage, scrap etc.
  • Actively pursues OEE target and above.
  • Shop floor support for all processing issues.
  • Support new product launches and attend R@R activities.
  • Support Process Manager to review all process related documentation.
  • Highlight any tooling or equipment issues & suggest/drive improvements.
  • Carry out checks from the process setting sheet against current running conditions in line with the IATF audit systems. Update and maintain.
  • Carry out monthly safety checks.
  • Carry out weekly crane checks.
  • Support the first off procedure with Quality to ensure mouldings are correct for shift production.
  • Make/suggest continual improvements to processes.
  • Ensure all data relevant to process & or machine downtime is captured & recorded correctly to Mattec.
  • Update setting sheets when ‘relevant' changes were deemed necessary to produce low scrap and quality parts. Update process log.
  • To be responsible for active deviations where the process is not adhered too and liaise with production/quality dept's to resolve issues to remove deviations.
  • To monitor process performance and understand root cause if process control is not being achieved.
  • Develop best practice methodology/procedures in line with SMED, 5s, Kaizen.
  • To support toolchanges as and when requested.
  • To complete robust investigations on process and tooling related downtime.
  • To support equipment breakdowns as and when requested.
  • To support Quality in PPS reviews on customer and internal concerns.
  • To attend short interval control meetings in the absence of process manager.
  • You will be expected to show flexibility in your hours of work including any overtime as and when required.

Preferred Skills And Experience

  • Hands On injection moulding experience within the automotive industry.
  • In depth knowledge in tool setting and processing.
  • Qualifications in injection moulding (BPTA, IMT, GA) Level 3/4.
  • Experience with Krauss Maffii, Engel, Nissei, Demag, and Negri Bossi moulding machines.
  • Experience with Wittmann, ATM, Krauss, and Sepro Robots.
  • English language required.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Numerate and literate to a minimum O level/GCSE “C”.
  • Computer literate.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Methodologies.
  • Clear understanding and able to apply PFMEA logic to identify and manage risk/feasibility.
  • Demonstrable understanding of cost implications of downtime, scrap and process variation.
