Team Collaboration
- Work closely with all team members in a collaborative environment to achieve project goals.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to coordinate tasks, share insights, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Report directly to the Senior Craft Engineer, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives and team performance.
- Contribute ideas to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity in the workshop.
- Take pride in the workshop environment and maintain high levels of cleanliness and organisation.
- This Craft Engineer (contractor) role requires a dedicated individual who can work effectively under pressure, follow instructions meticulously, and communicate clearly within a close-knit team environment. The ability to innovate, maintain high standards of workmanship, and take pride in one's work and workplace are essential for achieving outstanding results in composite fabrication projects.
- The build, maintenance & repair of specialist craft
- Travel to and support of offsite craft testing if required
- Advise on noted defects
- Follow work instructions and project timelines diligently to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Qualifications, attributes, and experience:
- City & Guilds or HND qualification in Boat Building or Marine Engineering, or extended experience in composite yacht construction.
- Experience working with four stroke diesel and petrol engines.
- Experience in waterjet and gearbox installation and maintenance.
- Experience in vessel fit out (including fuel, raw water, exhaust systems).
- Able to work from drawings and work instructions, complete documentation when required.
- Existing right to live and work in the UK and no known bar to obtaining appropriate UK security clearance as required.
- Able to fault find and fix mechanical, hydraulic and/or electrical systems. Able to work with a deep understanding of composite materials.
- The role will primarily be based in the SubSea Craft office in Portsmouth.
- The position may involve work in a manufacturing environment and at sea during trials, which may present physical challenges and require adherence to safety protocols.
