Community Housing Assistant
Hybrid working, from Home, our Reading Office and in the community
Permanent, full time (37.5 hpw), Flexible working
Salary circa £24,638 depending on experience, and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

This is a great job opportunity for a Community Housing Administrator to join Home Groups awesome housing team in South Region. As our Community Housing Administrator (CHA) you’re the face to face customer support to our communities. If you like variety, meeting and supporting customers, and want to develop a career in housing, then this is the perfect job for you!
Typical day as our Community Housing Assistant
- Through visibility, engagement with customers and proactivity on our estates, you’ll really get to get to know our communities.
- You’ll support our housing managers to look after their patches and through this, help us to improve our local neighbourhoods.
- You’ll support with tasks such as managing our empty property processes which includes liaising with local authorities, also completing estate inspections, engaging and meeting with contractors on site.
- You’ll carry out and record the routine safety and compliance checks in our buildings and communities.
- You’ll also manage the admin updating records, ordering, and arranging payment for works to be done.

You bring
- A “can do” positive attitude, you’re proactive and well organised, able to work on your initiative.
- A real passion for delivering excellent customer service and a genuine desire to help your customers.
- Confidence working collaboratively with colleagues in other parts of the business and external partners
- An understanding of housing management, housing law and universal credit would be ideal, but they’re not deal breakers!
- The ability to use technology to navigate our systems and update customer records
- An appreciation that this is a role where you’ll spend much of your time lone working in our local estates where access to a vehicle for business use is a must.
Due to limits on our current certificates of sponsorship, we are not able to offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role. This remains under regular review.

You’ll join Sonia's team, we’re super passionate about what we do! We are a newly formed team and we’re really proud of the work we do in our communities to help our customers sustain their tenancies. We’re a supportive bunch and like to meet up regularly in our London office for an anchor day.
Job details
- This is a hybrid role and in an average week, you’ll be expected to split your time working from our various office's in the region, as well as out in our communities, and working remotely from home.
- There may be some flexibility to adapt your working hours, do let us know about this when you meet us at the interview.
- We mainly work Monday to Friday and work occasional evenings to meet with customers. The great news is that you’ll be able to shape your own diary.
- To get from A to B, you’ll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that we’ll pay your mileage!
- You’ll need a Standard DBS check done and we pay for that.
