An established veterinary practice in the Sutton Farm area of Shrewsbury is currently seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and experienced team. This modern, well-equipped practice is ideally located near local amenities including a garden centre, supermarket, football ground, and the town centreplus its just five minutes from the M54 for excellent travel links.

The team consists of 2 Veterinary Surgeons, 4 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses, and 2 Client Care Advisors. The practice offers excellent facilities such as a K-laser, ultrasonography, Imagyst diagnostics, and separate dog and cat waiting areas and kennelscreating a calm and stress-free experience for both clients and pets.

The practice benefits from strong collaboration with a nearby 24-hour hospital, which provides out-of-hours cover and referral support, including access to CT imaging, endoscopy, dental x-ray, and hydrotherapy/physiotherapy services.

Working Pattern:

  • Full-time: 40 hours per week
  • 1 in 6 weekends at the local 24-hour hospital
  • Part-time and flexible working options considered


Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering excellent clinical care during consultations, surgeries, and procedures
  • Providing clear and compassionate client communication
  • Creating tailored treatment plans with cost transparency
  • Supporting the development and wellbeing of the wider clinical team
  • Ensuring high levels of compliance with practice and regulatory standards
  • Collaborating closely with the hospital team for referral or enhanced care needs
  • Sharing clinical knowledge and contributing to team learning


Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
  • Skilled in small animal care with experience in a general practice setting
  • Collaborative, positive, and supportive team player
  • Committed to high standards of clinical care and client service
  • Confident in mentoring, coaching, and encouraging others
  • Experience in supporting nurse consults and schedule 3 procedures
