We are currently recruiting for a Transport Apprentice to join our team based in Witham.

N.B. This role would suit a school or college leaver.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in logistics. As a Transport Apprentice, you will provide essential administrative and operational support to the Transport Department while gaining hands-on experience and working towards a nationally recognised qualification. Our aim is to support you throughout your development, with the potential to secure a permanent position upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Position:

Key duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide the first line of support for incoming driver calls and to effectively respond to each enquiry
  • To provide reception service to all drivers to the Transport Department, effectively receiving and processing their paperwork as well as completing a comprehensive debrief at the end of their shift
  • To support our Transport Planners and Transport Management by providing a first response to all incoming calls with the aim to efficiently answer any queries immediately
  • Learn and understand transport compliance, guidelines, rules & regulations
  • General Administrative and filing support for the Transport Manager
  • Computer input, price and job details, sortation of transport documentation

Requirements:

Key Skills and Qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • To qualify for an apprenticeship, you must Ideally be a school or college leaver and no longer in full time education
  • Recognised pass rate in GSCE Maths & English
  • Office experience is desirable, where you have worked in a professional environment
  • Eager to learn and have a genuine interest in Transport and Logistics
  • Computer literate with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office & Excel
  • Customer focused with excellent listening and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers
  • A team player and able to work well under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and efficiency
  • Flexible attitude and thrives in a fun and fast paced, busy environment
