TEAM LEADER ECOLOGY - North East - #196644
Tetra Tech Europe
Date: 21 hours ago
City: Newcastle upon Tyne
Contract type: Full time
Drive ecological excellence in the north east region with Tetra Tech. If you’re an experienced ecologist who leads from the front, blends hands‑on technical delivery with commercial acumen, and enjoys growing a high‑performing team, this is an exceptional opportunity to shape nature‑positive projects across sectors.
Purpose & Scope of the Role
As our North East Team Lead you will manage, inspire and expand a regional ecology team, overseeing the delivery of complex ecological projects from initial appraisal through to final outputs. You will balance day‑to‑day technical delivery with leadership, mentoring, and commercial activity—shaping bids, coordinating resources and ensuring work meets regulatory, environmental and quality standards. You will represent the region within Tetra Tech’s national Nature team and contribute to strategic growth.
Your Impact in this position
You will strengthen client relationships, raise technical standards, and grow market share in the north east. By mentoring staff and embedding best practice you will improve project outcomes, create career pathways for ecologists, and directly influence the delivery of sustainable, evidence‑based solutions for our clients.
Core Capabilities
Degree in a relevant discipline, full CIEEM membership; Chartered Ecologist or Chartered Environmentalist preferred. Proven ecological consultancy experience, commercial awareness, full driving licence and demonstrable leadership capability.
Working Environment
Flexible, hybrid working with time in office, field and client sites as required. Tetra Tech supports compressed/reduced hours and flexible patterns; some travel across the region and occasional national work expected.
Tetra Tech is a leading provider of consulting and engineering services working across the full project lifecycle worldwide. We have a wide range of expertise across our teams, providing a global support network with a personalised approach to client relationships to better understand where we can add value. We provide a collaborative environment that supports individual performance, innovation, and creativity.
We support public and private sector clients on local, national, and international projects to deliver sustainable and resilient solutions. Our operations in the UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands include more than 6,000 employees who are Leading with Science to solve our clients’ most complex problems.
In alignment with the Equality Act 2010, we will make reasonable adjustments to support candidates and employees requiring additional arrangements. This could include adaptations to work schedules, training approaches, or the physical workspace. Please inform us if you need any accommodations during the recruitment process or in your day-to-day role
