Band 5 – 6 development post – Adult Speech and Language Therapy

Are you a current Band 5 SLT with experience of working with adults who is looking for an opportunity to begin to develop your specialist skills at Band 6? If so, we have a post for you! You will develop independence in your clinical practice with both communication difficulties and dysphagia through working with a range of patients across acute and community sites.

Main duties of the job

We have an established development framework to enable you to progress from Band 5 to Band 6 when the time is right for you. You will be able to explore your own clinical interests across adult services. We will support with regular appraisals, management and clinical supervision and a strong focus on continued professional development, including developing your independent dysphagia competencies through our All Wales competency framework if needed.

We will welcome you into our friendly, supportive and experienced team of SLTs and TIs, working across acute, community and prison services in North East Wales. You will be joining us at an exciting time as we develop increasing remote and digital therapies, work within multi-disciplinary teams to transform health and social care for adults, and develop newly re-modelled stroke services across the region. Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Recognised qualification degree/equivalent in S&LT.
• HCPC registered.
• RCSLT registered.
  
  

Desirable criteria

• Membership of appropriate clinical network group.
• Demonstrate understanding & involvement of clinical governance and risk assessment.
• Knowledge of health legislation/policy.
• Alternative and augmentative communication knowledge & skills.
  
  

Experience

Essential criteria

• A range of clinical experience across Adult/Paediatric SLT services.
  
  

Desirable criteria

• Experience of delegating work to non-registered staff.
• Experience of working in multidisciplinary/ multiprofessional teams.
• Experience of supporting service change.
• Welsh/English therapy provision.
• Additional clinical or health care related experience.
