About The Role

Our Wrexham manufacturing facility is the home of our Neuroscience asset, and our largest site in the UK. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Manufacturing to join the leadership team. In this role you will be responsible for establishing and managing an effective manufacturing function to meet current and future demands.

This role ensures the quality of our products, compliance with cGMP regulations, and the development of manufacturing systems and processes. You will recruit, lead, manage, and develop a team, ensuring they have the necessary skills, knowledge, and motivation to perform their roles.

As a member of the Site Leadership Team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of site strategy and goals, promoting cross-functional working and operational excellence.

Main Responsibilities / Job Expectations

  • Ensure compliance with cGMP standards and regulatory requirements for manufacturing operations.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing objectives and KPIs, demonstrating continuous improvement.
  • Oversee production requirements across all site manufacturing facilities, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Promote best practices and operational excellence through continuous improvement practices.
  • Develop and maintain effective training programs for manufacturing staff.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Enhance Ipsen's reputation with external partners, authorities, and the public.
  • Develop and implement a strategic manufacturing plan for the site.
  • Manage the department budget, ensuring cost-effective activities.
  • Support the site masterplan, including future demand requirements and capacity delivery.
  • Represent the company in internal and external forums, benchmarking performance.

Knowledge, Abilities & Experience

  • Significant pharmaceutical manufacturing experience, with at least 5 years in aseptic processing and freeze drying.
  • Proven experience managing and leading a large team, with at least 2 levels of reports.
  • Preferably experienced in Lean or Six Sigma tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to transform organizations and ways of working.
  • Degree level or equivalent, preferably in a science-based subject.
  • Formal management qualification and business improvement techniques (Lean, Six Sigma) are desirable.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
