Job Overview
Service Lead Radiographer / Technologist (B7)
Nuclear Medicine – Wrexham Maelor Hospital
An opportunity has arisen at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital – to operationally manage the local Nuclear Medicine service and outsourced mobile PET-CT service (based at Wrexham currently). The department is part of the wider BCUHB radiology service, which currently has 3 SPECT-CT scanners (one at each DGH site in North Wales) including a local radiopharmacy. A GE870DR SPECT-CT system has been recently installed in the department. A mobile PET-CT service is also operated by the Health Board, on a 3-day per week basis. Applications are welcomed from technologists and radiographers with nuclear medicine experience.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will operationally manage the local nuclear medicine and outsourced mobile PET-CT service, to include staff line management, optimisation of service delivery and improvement, and implementing and maintaining quality and safety standards.
The post holder will work closely with the principal radiographer(s) for Nuclear Medicine, and the other service lead radiographers throughout North Wales, working as a team developing nuclear medicine and PET-CT services across the region.
This post would suit a professional who is seeking an exciting opportunity for the ongoing development the local service at Wrexham, and participate in the development of the wider regional service, with plans afoot for service reorganisation, with plans for a centre of excellence for Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT and associated facilities, currently progressing. Working towards a centre of excellence model would be both challenging and rewarding for nuclear medicine professionals, securing the future of the modality in the region for many years to come.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
