The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Senior Project Manager to join our Consulting Rail team. With shared office space in Birmingham, Derby, York, Manchester, Bristol & Cardiff, we welcome applications from Senior Project Managers across these regions.
Amey Consulting are an appointed Design partner on some of the biggest and most intricate rail infrastructure projects across the UK including Wales & Borders, The TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU), Midland Mainline and Crossrail. Our signalling team are improving connectivity, bringing better journeys to passengers, and engineering the future of rail safety and efficiency.
The role
Our Senior Project Managers play an important part within the Consulting Rail Design team and alongside our clients including Network Rail. As a Senior Project Manager you will be a key part of the team, acting as a team leader and taking responsibility for supporting your Project Management team on a variety of rail design schemes whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior Project Managers.

The role

Responsibilities Include
- Responsibility for the commercial success of the projects within their portfolio, controlling budgets and managing the costs associated with the production of deliverables
- To lead a team to produce technically sound project management deliverables, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements
- Overseeing and providing guidance to junior members of staff
- Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, responding to queries etc.
- Contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work winning function
- Drive effective health and safety practices within the team
- Experience and expertise within the field of Project Management, ideally gained in a highly regulated environment such as rail or equivalent
- Can take ownership for the preparation and checking of deliverables
- Excellent working knowledge of project management tools, processes, software products and similar analytical tools
- Able to Demonstrate good commercial awareness, ideally NEC experience
- Ideally be professionally qualified e.g. Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional licence
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in an appropriate subject
- Full membership of the Association for Project Management
- Association for Project Management Project Professional Qualification (PPQ) or equivalent
