What is the job role?

We are looking for a Senior Practitioner to cover maternity leave, 37 hours per week, for under-12-year-olds.

If you would like to work in a supportive service, using your skills and knowledge to work with and empower children and families to achieve better outcomes, then we would love to hear from you.

As a Senior Practitioner, you will work closely with the other senior practitioners in the service to support and develop newly qualified social workers, deputise for the team manager, and undertake a range of work that covers children's journeys from the Interim care order through to their future final care plan.

Care Planning /future planning and court experience are essential aspects to this role, incorporating evidence-based practice and needs-led outcomes.

All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).


Who are we looking for?

The service will welcome a candidate committed to improving the lives of children and young people and who can demonstrate behaviours that positively contribute to service development.

You will be a qualified and experienced Social Worker who has:

  • A current registration with Social Work England.
  • A sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • A proven ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions.
  • Knowledge of assessment methods, care management and casework methods.
  • Experience of carrying out a range of statutory work with adults, children and housing matters.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with adults, children, young people and families.
