Job Overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to appoint a Band 4 Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor to join our passionate and dedicated inpatient stroke rehabilitation team based in Deeside Community Hospital.
Our team aims to maximise an individual's abilities, with a focus on patient-centred goals, whilst enabling a safe discharge from hospital. With excellent MDT working and strong links with our community colleagues, our friendly team work together, helping to support patient flow, ensuring a smooth transition between hospital and community settings.
This post would be ideal for someone who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and has experience as a Occupational Therapy assistant with the required qualifications for this role commencing as a Band 4.
As an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor you will hold a clinical and ward base caseload in the stroke rehabilitation setting , take lead on discharge planning and complete access visits in the community under the supervision of a qualified occupational therapist.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Support and Patient Care
Assist therapists in the delivery of the highest standards of patient care, following treatment plans devised by Occupational Therapists.
Engage in the treatment of patients, providing support as needed and ensuring that therapy sessions are conducted effectively and safely.
Demonstrate and issue daily living equipment as prescribed by an Occupational Therapist, ensuring patients understand its use and feel confident in using the equipment.
Assist in the assessment of patient progress and report findings to the therapists to facilitate ongoing treatment planning.
Administrative Duties: Such as therapist and own diary management, Stock management, patient record keeping,
Team Collaboration: such as working as part of the MDT, participate in team meetings and MDT's
Education and Training: E.G. Engaging in professional development, Team training sessions, supporting and guiding new team members.
Quality Improvement: Contributing to the continuous service development, identifying areas for improvement, keeping up to date with current Evidence based practice
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Quality Credit Framework qualification at level 3 e.g. A level; NVQ or OCN related to Health & Social Care
- Relevant experience of working within a Healthcare environment, delivering therapy programmes
- Understanding of the role of occupational therapy
- Basic knowledge of main conditions relevant to area of speciality and the effects of illness on function
- Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post
- Ability to speak Welsh
