Responsibilities and key tasks:

  • Working with R&D to support the new product introduction, from product concept to delivery of the final manufacturing processes.
  • Specification, Control and purchase of production equipment needed in the Moulding and Manufacturing processes. Including project management.
  • Continuous improvement of all production equipment resulting in increased efficiency, reduced costs and improved processes or controls.
  • Justifications, Request for quotation, and Investment requests for new production equipment (capex).
  • Estimation of the product manufacture process including costs and production timings. Developing a detailed cost analysis of a new product.
  • Time and motion study of new processes to support the cost analysis of NPI. Also supporting the continuous Improvement of existing processes.
  • Line balancing and production layout design, with a strong focus on Health and Safety
  • Supporting protype builds and Engineering pilots. Prototyping of manufacturing equipment.
  • Planning of new equipment install and improvements to existing equipment, Jigs, Fixtures and measurement systems.
  • Utilising PFMEA to analyse the process risks. Designing out risks and or creating countermeasures to reduce the likelihood.
  • Support the product 'Design for manufacture' and 'Design for Automation' processes.
  • Focussed on product quality and developing systems that support the quality of products. Including process validation and product testing.
  • Support other members of the team including engineers, technicians and apprentices to develop their skill sets.


Additional skills/ qualifications required:

  • Good communicator, both verbal and written; strong problem solving and analytical skills; the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Inclusion of other teams and stakeholders in decision processes.
  • Utilisation of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Understanding of production environment
  • Either a relevant degree, or several years' experience in Engineering.
  • APQP Documentation including product design, process flow and Manufacturing reviews, and PFMEA.
