Job title: Senior Designer - NX

Location: Barrow-in-Furness - We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements. The hybrid working option for this role, is a minimum of 2 days on site per week (depending on business needs)

Salary: Up to £41,440 (Commensurate with skills and experience)

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and develop solutions to a range of common design situations/problems using NX
  • Understand and apply a range of fundamental design processes, tools, systems and techniques.
  • Develop and produce ways of working within NX to provide design intent
  • Work as a member of a multi-functional team created to accomplish tasks (e.g. Capgemini, Siemens, IBM and SSNA)
  • Begin to schedule own work to meet target time scales and budget demand using tools and techniques with guidance from their supervisor.
  • Continually seek ways to improve, processes, toolsets, systems, techniques and the generic workplace.
  • Take an active role in high risk and high complexity tasks with low-risk involvement, supported by the project leader or equivalent.

Your Skills And Experiences

  • Demonstrated Experience of NX within an Electrical / Mechanical Engineering environment
  • Good understanding of design techniques, processes and approaches in a range of industrial situations
  • Good knowledge in the use of design tools and techniques, methods, company design standards and systems
  • Works with a degree of technical autonomy and demonstrates a commitment to professional design engineering principles and values
  • Ability to develop and assist others (i.e. Apprentices)
  • HNC /HND qualification is desirable

The NXGEN Digital Capability Team

An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen within Submarine NXGEN Digital Capability Team for 4 Senior Designers - NX. These new roles are based out of Barrow with a hybrid working option of a minimum of 2 days on site per week (depending on business needs)

Joining this team will provide you with the exciting opportunity to make the future more secure for everyone. No two days will be the same as you work with supporting the capabilities being delivered in the various current & future drops of NX, whilst attending the workshops and demos to develop our understanding of how we can use the Siemens software for BAE needs. You will also Identify any development needs within the software and develop the way of working, write the test scripts and assist the process and training team if they have any questions so they can develop their documents.

You can also enjoy a variety of future career progression choices across our numerous business areas, including Principal Designer or leadership roles within the team. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria. These roles also offer paid overtime, subject to business requirements.
