Following significant investment by the Trust we are looking for up to ten Band 6 or Band 7 pharmacists to join our -PROPEL Programme (Plymouth Rotational Opportunity for Progression through Experience & Learning), structured rotational development programme.
Applications are open to current trainee pharmacists, pharmacists in their early years of career, those new to hospital pharmacy with experience in other sectors or with specific visa requirements.
Dependent on your knowledge skills and previous experience you will join as either a Band 6 or Band 7 clinical pharmacists. You will be supported through our training programme and progression pathway which will enable you to develop a portfolio to prepare for advanced clinical practice and Band 8a roles.
This role is for enthusiastic and motivated newly qualified or experienced pharmacists looking to further develop their clinical skills alongside gaining significant teaching, training, leadership, and management experience in order to aid career progression for more senior roles.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

Band 6 Rotational Pharmacists
- Guaranteed progression to Band 7 role after 18 months (subject to competency milestones)
- Fully funded Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy– with protected study time
- Undertake 3-month core rotations including: Mixed Medical Admissions, Mixed Surgical Care, Healthcare of Older People, Generalised Paediatrics, Aseptic Services, Clinical Screening and Medicines Information
- Work laptop and mobile phone
- Support and mentoring by experienced pharmacists
- Relocation packages offered dependent on eligibility
- Ready to apply for Band 8a roles within 18 months
- Fully funded certificate in Diploma Clinical Pharmacy– with protected study time
- Undertake 6-month core specialised or optional specialised rotations including: gastroenterology, paediatrics and neonatal medicine, neurology, cardiology, respiratory, microbiology, critical care, urgent & emergency care, clinical trials, cancer services and aseptics, hepatology, patient safety, governance and formulary, clinical academic & research
- Work as part of wider MDT’s with involvement in audit, change management, quality improvement projects, supervise others, formulary review and medicines optimisation.
- Upon completion of diploma fully funded Non Medical Prescribing or other further study e.g. MSc
