An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the friendly, hard working and dedicated IV team in the IV Suite, Deeside Community Hospital.

The role, which involves the delivery, care and management of IV infusions / transfusions, inserting lines, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating specific clinical programmes of care will require specific skills such as venepuncture and cannulation but these can be gained with the support of the IV staff.

Main duties of the job

You need to have a passion for delivering care to both the acutely ill patient and patients with long-term conditions. You need to be able to adapt quickly and work in different settings. We are looking for individuals that have confidence in their clinical skills and those who are able to work from their own direction and able to switch and change in a fast pace environment.

You will be:

  • Providing training and support to patients and their families,
  • Assisting with or performing blood draws and inserting IV lines.
  • Managing Haematological conditions, leasing with consultants.
  • Supporting oncology patients with treatments and leasing with consultants.
  • Observing patients' conditions, monitoring vital signs, and escalating to appropriate clinician.
  • Developing and implementing care plans based on patient needs and maintaining accurate records of care.
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care, MDT working, working closely with oncology, haematology.
  • Developing and supporting a new service.
  • Taking on a senior role when needed Competent in the management and delivery of IV Therapies.

  • Evidence of post registration study and training, e.g, POVA, Child Protection, Intermediate Life Support if required in clinical setting

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Pre-registration evidence in direct nursing care
  • Experience of providing holistic nursing care
  • Interest in developing nursing skills

Desirable criteria

  • Clear understanding of clinical governance framework
  • Implement evidence based practice

Skills And Competencies
