About The Role
As Regional Sales Director, reporting into Cath Mullin, Regional Director, you will lead and develop a regional sales team to deliver sales and profit targets in support of the company and regional business plan. You will balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational excellence, shaping the regional work winning strategy while building the relationships and team culture that turn opportunity into sustainable growth.

About The Role
As Regional Sales Director, reporting into Cath Mullin, Regional Director, you will lead and develop a regional sales team to deliver sales and profit targets in support of the company and regional business plan. You will balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational excellence, shaping the regional work winning strategy while building the relationships and team culture that turn opportunity into sustainable growth.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and engage colleagues in delivering an industry-leading Stay Safe culture and new ways of working
- Lead and implement the Regional Sales Strategy
- Take responsibility for the effective management and direction of sales and profit through Account Managers, Technical Support, Regional Tender Office, Project Tracking, Hire, Industrial and QMS
- Prepare an agreed regional and individual branch/territory sales plan and manage the resources under your control to meet its objectives
- Proactively seek opportunities to continually improve processes and ways of working across the branch, region and business, maximising productivity and sharing best practice while maintaining a cost-effective approach
- Provide input to the sales and profit budget and maintain a clear understanding of the market dynamics in your area
- Establish revenue and margin targets that are both ambitious and achievable
- Be a leader and role model through effective recruitment, development and performance management, setting clear objectives, work priorities and standards, and reviewing individual performance against these
- Take advantage of the opportunities that arise through customer requirements to maximise profit for BSS
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships between the sales teams, the BSS network and suppliers to maximise sales performance and customer potential
- Build a network of contacts and customer partnerships through regular contact at all appropriate levels
- Implement a defined account management approach for key customers to ensure all potential sales opportunities are fully exploited
- Maintain a high level of personal engagement with critical decision-makers among top customers and suppliers
- Influence and challenge senior-level stakeholders
- Collaborate and align with Regional Directors, the Managing Director and fellow Sales Directors to ensure a unified, joined-up approach, contributing local and regional project intelligence to inform strategy
- Support the implementation of change activity across the business, including system implementation, process improvement and proposition development
- Continually evaluate commercial performance using data and KPIs, identifying risks and opportunities and using insight to drive improved outcomes
- Lead a performance culture, driving for high performance, addressing poor performance quickly and challenging average performance, while coaching and developing your team to be at their best
Essential
- Demonstrable sales record in an external sales role
- Experience of managing a target-driven external sales team
- Previous management experience with the ability to lead, motivate and develop staff
- Commercial awareness and the ability to produce and interpret basic financial and statistical information
- Excellent relationship-building, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to a broad spectrum of individuals
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise the work of self and others
- Good negotiation and coaching skills
- Knowledge of sales processes, with the ability to implement and manage a project tracking system and a successful quotation follow-up system
- Ability to engage with and create a team ethos
- Ability to continuously challenge the status quo
- Passion, drive and initiative to succeed
- Previous experience at Sales Director level
- Good presentation skills
- Knowledge of company procedures and products
- Proven track record of delivering measurable improvement in a sales-driven, multi-site environment
- Analytical mindset and resilience
