Role Description

We have an opportunity for a Product Underwriting Manager to join our team. This will be a hybrid position based out of our Brentwood office.

As the Product Underwriting Manager you will contribute to definition and delivery of product proposition, features, underwriting approach, terms, validation controls, aping rules and customer experience across all distribution channels to support strategic aims.

You'll participate in the Global P&C Academy accreditation, enhancing your skills in underwriting, risk engineering, pricing, and claims management while exchanging best practices across the Allianz Group. Furthermore, for pricing-based roles, Allianz Insurance offers a generous study package to enable the actuarial qualification to be obtained through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the UK.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £45,000 per year.

Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

As the Product Underwriting Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Underwriting manager to develop underwriting strategy in collaboration with the pricing managers.
  • Using technical knowledge and awareness of customer needs to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Monitoring market, technology and data developments, customer feedback and product performance MI
  • Taking a cross-product and cross-functional view, identifying opportunities to improve the process
  • Actively participating in management forums internally (e.g. Pricing Committee, Risk validation Steering and Product Forum).
  • Analysing relevant product related regulatory bulletins (e.g. from ABI and FCA)

Essential Skills

We don't expect you to know everything from day one, but the following will enable you to hit the ground running:

  • Ability to identify opportunities or risks and make appropriate recommendations
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload
  • Good communication skills, including report writing and presentations
  • Ability to interpret MI
  • Understanding of underwriting appetite and governance process
  • Ability to Manage stakeholders and also manage projects
