Working hours: 35 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 06:45/14:45*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays.

  • Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office
  • Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area
  • Build relationships with customers
  • Work outdoors in all weathers

What to expect
This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:
  • Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
  • Driving a Royal Mail van daily
  • Working in all weather conditions
  • Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
  • Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you
We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
  • A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
  • Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
  • Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
  • Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
  • Comfortable working outdoors and independently
