Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Painter and Maintenance Operative
Reporting to: Deputy Head of Facilities Services (Maintenance)
Main purpose of the role: The purpose of this post is to ensure the smooth and efficient provision of painting services to all schools and properties within Brighton College.
General Duties And Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:
This role will work 40 hours per week, from 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday inclusive with a 60:minute unpaid lunch break each day
Remuneration
The salary for this role is A GBP 29,254 per annum. On completion of probation you will be expected to go onto the on:call rota, for which you will be paid.
Holidays
23 days, plus bank holidays increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after 2 years of service.

General Duties And Responsibilities
- Applying paint, stain, varnish and other finishes to a high standard with minimal supervision.
- Using brushes, rollers or spraying equipment.
- Working with the team to calculate the materials needed for a project.
- Removing old paint or wallpaper by sanding or scraping, or by using heat guns, liquid paint removers or steam strippers.
- Cleaning up supplies and replacing fixtures when project is complete.
- Any other reasonable management request.
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:
- Painting and Decorating Level 2 NVQ.
- 3+ years of experience painting and decorating.
- The ability to deliver on deadlines.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic computer skills required for checking and updating work orders, ordering supplies and online training.
- To be flexible and have a positive attitude to work within a team framework.
- The ability to interact with all types of people with courtesy and tact.
- The ability to work competently alone or as part of the team.
- Required to be on the out of hours maintenance rota (on completion of probation).
- Plastering experience would be beneficial but not essential.
- General maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to erect working platforms and towers.
