Join Our Team as a Sweet Bakery Operative!

We are looking for reliable and detail-oriented Operatives to join our sweet Bakery. The Multiskilled Operative will mainly be responsible for hygiene tasks within the Sweet Bakery, but they may also be preparing, baking, and packaging sweet bakes according to established recipes and quality standards. In addition to production duties, there will also be some paperwork and CCP checks to ensure that the facility is kept clean and sanitary, as hygiene and food safety are top priorities.

Hours of work will be 16:30 to 00:30, working Monday to Friday, with 2 x 30 mins unpaid breaks.

Starting salary is £13.10 per hour with an enhanced rate of £16.38 per hour. Enhanced rate is for hours between 20:00 & 06:00 and for hours over 37.5 per week.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning & Sanitation (Approx. 70% of role):

  • Ensure that the entire facility, including baking equipment, tools, and surfaces, is cleaned and sanitised after each shift.
  • Follow cleaning schedules to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Clean floors, walls, ovens, mixers, and all work surfaces to maintain a hygienic workspace.
  • Manage and dispose of waste in accordance with hygiene guidelines.
  • Restock cleaning supplies and maintain an organised cleaning inventory.

Other Responsibilities can include:

Baking & Production:

  • Prepare the sweet bakes by accurately measuring and mixing ingredients according to recipes.
  • Operate and monitor baking equipment such as mixers, ovens, and cooling racks.
  • Portion, shape, and bake the sweet bakes to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Package baked products for distribution, ensuring proper labelling and freshness.
  • Monitor baking times and temperatures to produce the perfect product.
  • Identify and resolve any production issues, such as dough consistency or baking inconsistencies.

Quality Control:

  • Conduct regular checks to ensure the sweet bakes meet the company’s quality standards in terms of taste, appearance, and freshness.
  • Ensure consistency in portion sizes, shapes, and baking times.
  • Address any quality issues promptly by adjusting processes or notifying the team leader.
