This role is a cornerstone in elevating safety, quality, and environmental performance across all Service business lines and plays a central part in building a unified, world‑class HSEQ culture in Renewables Service.
The role reports operationally to the VP of Service and functionally to the Head of HSEQ.
Role purpose
The HSEQ Director, Service Division holds global responsibility for driving the HSEQ agenda across all Semco Service business lines (BoP, WTG, MCE). The role ensures that Semco Maritime’s offshore wind service activities are executed safely, compliantly, and consistently, while supporting the organisation’s growth ambitions and operational excellence journey.
The Director will lead the HSEQ team within Renewables Service, set strategic direction, and deploy best‑practice systems, standards, and behaviours across the organisation. As the senior HSEQ leader for Service, the role acts as the single point of contact for Service towards Group HSEQ and ensures alignment with Semco Maritime’s overall HSEQ and Operational Excellence frameworks.
Based in the UK, the role is also responsible for establishing and maintaining a compliant, robust HSEQ management system to support the UK market ramp‑up.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic HSEQ leadership
- Act as the primary HSEQ partner to Service leadership, ensuring safe, compliant, and high‑quality service delivery across all offshore wind service activities.
- Drive the HSEQ strategic agenda for Renewables Service while contributing to the overall Semco Maritime HSEQ strategy.
- Develop and implement a unified HSEQ framework across BoP, WTG, and MCE, ensuring consistency, transparency, and scalability.
- Translate service growth ambitions and contract pipeline into forward‑looking HSEQ capability, resource, and system requirements.
- Lead all HSEQ activities across Renewables Service, ensuring compliance with client, regulatory, and industry standards (including UK HSE, GWO, ISO 9001/14001/45001).
- Oversee incident management, investigations, root‑cause analysis, and learning deployment across the Service organisation.
- Ensure robust risk management processes, including risk assessments, method statements, and offshore work controls.
- Drive proactive safety culture initiatives, leading indicators, and behavioural safety programmes.
- Act as the HSEQ responsible for UK operations, ensuring a compliant and scalable management system for the UK market ramp‑up.
- Lead and develop the HSEQ team within Renewables Service, including line management of all HSEQ resources in Service (e.g., Peter Koehnemann and team in WM, Mads Nielsen in BOP).
- Build a high‑performing, internationally oriented HSEQ organisation with strong offshore wind expertise.
- Ensure structured communication, coaching, and competence development across the HSEQ team.
- Foster collaboration and alignment between Service HSEQ and Group HSEQ.
- Identify, define, and deploy industry best practice and Semco standards across all Service business lines.
- Strengthen management systems, processes, and tools to support predictable, safe, and efficient service delivery.
- Ensure readiness for audits, certifications, and client HSEQ requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance, quality outcomes, and environmental stewardship.
- Work closely with Operations, Project Management, HR, QHSE, Procurement, and Finance to ensure integrated HSEQ performance.
- Act as a key contributor to Service leadership forums and One Service Organisation initiatives.
- Represent Semco Maritime in client engagements, industry forums, and regulatory interactions.
Safety & compliance
- TRIR / LTIF performance
- Leading indicator performance (observations, toolbox talks, safety engagements)
- Compliance with UK HSE and international offshore wind regulations
- Audit completion rate and non‑conformance closure time
- Quality defect rate and rework reduction
- Incident investigation quality and learning implementation
- Management system maturity and certification status
- HSEQ competence development and certification compliance
- Employee engagement and retention within the HSEQ team
- Quality and consistency of HSEQ support to Service projects
- Safety culture maturity indicators
- Implementation of best‑practice standards across BoP, WTG, and MCE
- Effectiveness of improvement initiatives and cross‑functional collaboration
- Senior HSEQ leader with extensive experience in the offshore wind sector — ideally at Director or Senior Director level.
- Proven track record in international HSEQ leadership roles within offshore wind, renewable energy, or high‑risk industries.
- Strong understanding of UK HSE regulations and offshore wind operational requirements.
- Experience building and leading high‑performing HSEQ teams across multiple locations and business lines.
- Deep knowledge of HSEQ management systems, risk management, incident investigation, and behavioural safety.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, able to influence at all levels from offshore technicians to senior leadership.
- Structured, analytical, and systems‑oriented working style.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across functions and geographies.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
- A senior global leadership role with significant influence on the safety, quality, and environmental performance of Semco Maritime’s Renewables Service organisation.
