The Role
This is a safety-critical role suitable for someone holding a Personal Track Safety record and CIRAS. Please note that the role-holder will agree to random drug and alcohol testing.
The post holder is accountable for the successful mobilization, deployment and commercial delivery of specified heavy maintenance projects (including classified repair, overhaul and refurbishment projects) delegated to them predominantly at our Bristol depot. There will be a requirement to support new and existing projects at other deports too. You may sometimes need to work outside of your usual weekly hours with the occasional overnight stay.

You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to apply strong analytical techniques, able to influence people effectively, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude. You are self-confident, decisive and resilient. Adaptable to change, self-motivated and pro-active. Helpful, innovative and informative to staff, clients and stakeholders. Willing to act as one of our role models in establishing Arriva Traincare vision and values.

What You’ll Do
- Consistently deliver heavy maintenance contracts by developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Recruit and develop appropriately skilled teams.
- Provide regular information about progress towards KPIs.
- Manage your own team.
- Support bids.
- Lead Contract Review Meetings.
- Drive continuous improvement.
- Understand and recognize new stakeholder opportunities.
- Provide exemplary customer service.

- Qualifications – NVQ Level 4 certificate in Engineering, BTEC certificate in Engineering, City & Guilds certificate in engineering, Prince 2 qualified, people management training
- Experience – involvement & understanding of rail vehicle maintenance (traction & rolling stock), an understanding of depot operations, an ability to interpret engineering drawings and an understanding of production efficiency techniques, an ability to collaborate with others in order to solve problems, able to work independently, project management.
- Knowledge – Fire safety, COSHH awareness, PTS, depot safety, accident/incident reporting, electricity awareness, working at heights, understanding of improving the efficiency of production. Understanding of ROSCO/TOC/FOC relationships.
