Role Overview At Ikaros Solar, a well-established, yet further growing player in the international field of renewable energies, focused on large-scale solar projects, we are offering the opportunity to join our team as GIS Specialist for Solar Projects . You will be located in United Kingdom (UK) and play a crucial role, identifying suitable land for large-scale solar projects using a combination of available and custom-built GIS tools. You will be responsible for selecting land plots that meet prescribed selection criteria, ensuring the optimal development of solar projects. Key Responsibilities Use GIS tools and software to analyze geographic data, identify potential sites for solar projects, and assess their suitability based on various criteria such as land topography, solar radiation, environmental considerations, and regulatory requirements Develop and maintain GIS databases containing relevant spatial data layers, including land parcels, environmental features, infrastructure, and other relevant information Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project developers, engineers, environmental consultants, and regulatory agencies to gather necessary data and ensure alignment with project requirements Conduct site visits and field surveys to validate GIS data, assess site conditions, and identify potential challenges or opportunities for solar project development Generate detailed maps, reports, and visualizations to communicate site suitability, project constraints, and other relevant information to internal stakeholders and external partners Stay abreast of emerging GIS technologies, methodologies, and industry trends to continually enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of GIS workflows within the organization Provide technical expertise and support to project teams throughout the entire project lifecycle, from site selection and feasibility studies to permitting and construction phases Profile Requirements Bachelor's degree (Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field) Experience in similar position (at least 5 years), preferably in the renewable energy or environmental consulting industry Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms) usage, experience with spatial analysis, data manipulation, and cartographic design Strong understanding of geographic principles, coordinate systems, and spatial data formats (e.g., shapefiles, raster datasets, geodatabases). Familiarity with renewable energy concepts, solar resource assessment and land use planning considerations Excellent analytical skills (able to interpret complex spatial data to make informed recommendations) Effective communication skills (able to transmit technical information to non-technical audiences) Detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment What we offer Full remote option Competitive salary with extra benefits Full time position in a well established company, that is in a thriving path Professional growth, being part of an international collaborative team committed to sustainability and innovation Interested?
