An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Emerson as a Field Sales Engineer covering the North East of England. The main tasks of the Field Sales Engineer are to develop and manage defined target accounts, achieving and exceeding sales and profitability expectations. The successful candidate will achieve this through building relationships within their assigned accounts and territory, maximising customer face time whilst promoting solutions and products from across the Emerson Measurement Solutions (MSOL) instrumentation portfolio. Generating value and growth for our existing customer base and Emerson whilst seeking new business opportunities within them.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Sales Targets and Forecasting
- Own and deliver the budget and targets for assigned customer accounts
- Forecast and maintain opportunity funnel updating business planning tools (CRM)
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of all account activities
- Actively collaborate with existing measurement solutions internal and external sales teams to maximise customer value and ensure complete account coverage
- Maintain and execute value creation plans and deploy sales campaigns to generate new opportunities
- Liaise with Product Managers and BDMs on application knowledge sharing/training
- Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure alignment of messaging and needs
- Develop and maintain a solid understanding of available market and business
- Understand customer’s own strategy and overall industry trends, legislation drivers and business needs to promote suitable products and solutions to address these needs
- Proactively deploy sales growth account plans/initiatives to achieve or maintain supplier of first choice status
- Increase market share with new account acquisition, growing existing accounts and identification of green/brownfield project opportunities
- Maximise customer facing time with travel expectation of 3-4 days per week
- Identify new and actively engage with existing customers by promoting unique product features and deploying best sales practices, accompanied with technical knowledge
- Utilise account management skills to maximise effectiveness and customer facing selling activities
- Build effective customer relationships to grow loyalty within existing accounts and become a trusted advisor

For This Role, You Will Need:
- Background and experience in sales and engineering
- Proven track record of selling in a direct B2B environment and securing new business with new and existing customers
- Experience in developing long term relationships with customers
- Demonstrate a consultative approach to selling
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the Emerson portfolio – technical expertise not required but an appreciation and ability to understand product applications is essential
- Ability to communicate at both technical and commercial level to resolve customer pains
- Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites in order to fulfil duties of the role essential (approx 3 days a week)
- Educated to HNC or higher in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent
- Experience of operating within the process automation industry
- Experience of developing successful relationships internally, within a matrix organisation
