Who we are and what we offer:

Interested in shaping skylines across the globe?

Multiplex is a premier construction company with a simple purpose: to construct a better future. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to help deliver some of the world's most iconic projects, supported by approachable leadership and an inclusive culture that puts our people first.

You will also have access to a range of holistic benefits including:

  • Discretionary annual bonus, 8% company contribution pension
  • Single private medical cover, employee assistance programme, and virtual GP service
  • Competitive parental leave
  • Several flexible benefits such as discounted gym memberships, dental plans
  • Professional career development opportunities and a wealth of learning offerings through the Multiplex Learning Academy.
  • An industry-leading approach to flexible work to enable better work-life balance.

Who we're looking for:

Our people are united by a common belief: that we can outperform in everything we do.

We are currently recruiting for Fabric Engineers. The role will be based at Peterborough City Hospital. Peterborough City Hospital is now regarded as the City's most significant building project since the cathedral was built in 1238. The healthcare campus features: a 612-bed, 22-theatre Major Acute Hospital; a 98-bed Mental Health Unit; a 39-bed City Care Centre; a multi storey car park; helicopter pad; hard and soft landscaping and highway works.

The Fabric Engineer will report to and work closely with the Fabric Services Supervisor in relation to building fabric operations across Peterborough City Hospital, The Cavell Centre, and the City Care Centre. The role involves supporting the Fabric Maintenance Team in delivering a high-quality hard facilities management service, carrying out duties in line with those of a Fabric Engineer. Responsibilities include undertaking planned preventative and reactive maintenance across a wide range of building fabric elements, including windows, doors, roofing, flooring, walls, furniture, fixtures, upholstery, MF and suspended ceilings, and various locking systems. The role also requires carrying out minor external repairs to items such as block paving, drop kerbs, fencing and street furniture, as well as completing small installation works including worktops, cupboard units, shelving, and dry lining systems. The individual must be capable of organising and prioritising their own workload and working independently when required, while demonstrating a strong commitment, flexibility and a proactive approach to tasks as directed by the Fabric Services Supervisor.

What do I need to be successful in this role?

To be successful in this role, the candidate should have relevant experience in building fabric maintenance, including both reactive and planned works, with experience in a healthcare environment considered advantageous. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a strong “can do” approach are essential. Experience or appropriate qualifications in fire door inspection and maintenance are desirable, although training can be provided. Additionally, familiarity with specialist materials and systems such as Sarnafil roofing and Tarkett or Altro flooring would be beneficial.

A note on diversity:

Diversity is about celebrating the ways we are all different and appreciating the unique qualities that every employee brings. We invite applications from people of all genders, cultures and walks of life. Research shows that women and people from underrepresented groups are less like to apply for roles if they don't meet every qualification. So even if you don't match all the criteria - if you are passionate about helping to construct a better future, we'd love to hear from you.

We are committed to providing a barrier-free work environment and can support with reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process. Simply inform our Talent Acquisition team during your conversation with them.
