Join Intellisense.io to build the future of Scientific Intelligence

Are you passionate about building scalable data systems and solving complex technical challenges? We're looking for a Software Engineer or Data Engineer (Mid-to-Senior level) to join our dynamic, global team. This is a remote-first role ideal for someone with strong problem-solving skills, solid coding ability, and a desire to work on high-impact projects.

This role may not be suitable for recent graduates, as it requires working independently on complex problems and occasionally liaising directly with clients.

At IntelliSense.io, we’re pioneering Objective AI (ODAI), integrating fundamental physics with AI to understand and characterise the physical world. Our technology delivers high-value decision recommendations, acting as role-specific co-pilots to augment human intelligence or enable autonomous execution systems. We're building the brains behind smarter, more efficient operations.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines (streaming and batch).
  • Developing real-time data processing solutions with Apache Flink.
  • Implementing robust data ingestion, transformation, and delivery workflows.
  • Collaborating across teams (Data Scientists, DevOps, Product) to create data-driven solutions.
  • Improving data architecture, monitoring, observability, and governance practices.
  • Managing schema evolution, data quality, and recovery logic in pipelines.
  • Contributing to documentation, CI/CD processes, and production deployments.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in Software Engineering with a focus on data systems.
  • Knowledge of stream processing concepts (event time, watermarks, windowing).
  • Proficient in Java and NodeJS (Python is a plus).
  • Familiar with OOP and functional programming.
  • Skilled in SQL and experience with both relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Hands-on experience with message queues (e.g., NATS, Pub/Sub).
  • Comfortable with cloud-native environments (GCP, AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Solid understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and testing practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in distributed teams.
  • Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Bonus Points For:

  • Familiarity with Apache Flink and/or Spark is a strong advantage!
  • Experience with BigQuery, Redshift, or Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of Helm, Istio, Jenkins, or Terraform.
  • Monitoring and logging with Prometheus, Grafana.
  • Understanding of GDPR/CCPA compliance

Why Join Us?

  • Remote work in the UK or Ireland with flexible hours.
  • Work with cutting-edge technologies on real-world data challenges.
  • Be part of a collaborative, global team of experts.
  • Continuous learning environment with opportunities to grow and lead.
