We are currently looking for a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on the Surrey Highways Term Maintenance Contract, ensuring best value for our client and delivering sustainable results for the business. In this strategic role, you'll be responsible for contract management, cost control, supply chain engagement, and commercial reporting—working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to drive performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial team, promoting a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Oversee commercial reporting, monthly forecasting, budget monitoring, and final accounts.
- Act as the main liaison for all commercial and contractual matters with the client and supply chain.
- Ensure all commercial processes, tools, and governance are robust, efficient, and compliant with company policies.
- Manage and develop the commercial team, driving accountability, performance, and staff development.
- Oversee work estimates, subcontractor contracts, and instructions to ensure clarity and compliance.
- Provide timely and accurate commercial data to support business cycles and strategic decisions.
- Identify and manage Early Warnings, Compensation Events, and maintain associated registers.
- Support the development and maintenance of the contract Risk and Opportunity Register.
- Produce concise management reports for senior leadership, offering insight into commercial performance and risks.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong commercial and contract management experience in highways or civil engineering
- Excellent stakeholder communication and leadership skills
- Experience managing and developing teams
- Member of a professional body (desirable)
- Commitment to safety, wellbeing, and quality standards
