Clinical Fellow (CT level) in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care - #138954
Hywel Dda University Health Board
Date: 2 weeks ago
City: Carmarthen
Contract type: Full time

Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join a close-knit and welcoming team of anaesthetists and intensivists providing anaesthetic services for theatre and critical care, based at Glangwili General Hospital in Carmarthen. This post is ideal for candidates wishing to get experience in anaesthetics and critical care, before entering a formal training post at CT1 level.
All appointees would receive an appropriately supported and structured induction and would only undertake on call duties when appropriately trained to do so. We whole-heartedly support doctors preparing to enter to the UK training scheme.
This post is a fixed-term 12-month contract offered as a Clinical Fellow post of 40 hours per week. Depending upon prior experience and development of anaesthetic competencies the post will include out of hours and weekends working on a 1:8 rota predominantly covering intensive care.
Main duties of the job
The post involves opportunity to develop intensive care, obstetric and general anaesthetic competencies and the potential candidate will be supported to complete the Initial assessment of competency (IAC) in anaesthesia.
This post covers the intensive care on call rota depending on the competencies shown by the candidate, providing critical care with 24-hour cover. Resident consultants supervise all daytime work. A non-resident consultant supports out-of-hours duties. Specialty doctors are encouraged to work alongside consultants in the critical care unit and they are part of the team in the emergency department that manages critically ill patients and facilitates intra-hospital transfers.
