️Role Summary:

The Catering Assistant will support the Cafe Operator in delivering a high quality café and catering service for employees and visitors on site. This role combines food preparation, customer service, and day to day operational support to ensure the café runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

Hours – Alternating between Mon to Fri 8:30 to 13:30 and 9:30 to 14:30

️Key Responsibilities:

Prepare hot and cold food items following agreed menus, recipes, and portion standards.

  • Assist with daily café service, including plating food, and serving customers.
  • Set up and clear down the café area, ensuring it is clean, organised, and ready for service.
  • Support any internal catering requests such as refreshments for meetings or small events.
  • Provide friendly, efficient, and professional service to all café users.
  • Handle customer queries, feedback, and requests in a positive and helpful manner.
  • Maintain high standards of presentation for both food and service areas.
  • Assist with stock rotation, deliveries, and basic ordering tasks.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages or issues to the Cafe Operator.
  • Operate the till and handle payments accurately.
  • Take responsibility for running the cafe when the Cafe Operator is on leave or otherwise unavailable
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and allergen procedures in line with company and legal standards.
  • Keep kitchen, café, and storage areas clean, tidy, and compliant with regulations.
  • Report any equipment faults, hazards, or incidents promptly

️Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in a café, catering, or hospitality environment.
  • Basic food preparation skills and an interest in developing further.
  • Strong customer service approach with a friendly and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Food hygiene certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to high standards.
  • Flexible and willing to support a variety of tasks.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, hands on environment.
  • Team focused, with a can do attitude.
