Job Overview

DIMENSIONS OF JOB:

Cross-site working at Wexham Park Hospital, Heatherwood and Slough Hospitals, to cover bank shifts across 7-day working as and when required.

To work as a bank clinical sonographer delivering a high-quality ultrasound service.

Purpose Of Job

  • Perform a range of non-obstetric ultrasound examinations (general, gynae, MSK)
  • Produce high-quality ultrasound reports under the delegation of the lead radiologist for Ultrasound and in accordance with accepted practice and protocols within the Obstetrics Department
  • Overall responsible for contributing to providing a high-quality and efficient ultrasound service
  • Maintains the high standards of the department by contributing to individual and team objectives.

Main duties of the job

Service Delivery and Quality

  • Maintain good communication and relationships with stakeholders, including patients and other users of the service
  • Able to communicate results and findings
  • Provide relevant information to ensure that verbal consent is gained from patients or carers before undertaking any ultrasound procedure

Personnel & Training

  • Responsible for maintaining CPD and own level of competence

Quality

  • Perform all ultrasound procedures to a high professional standard in accordance with the departmental protocols
  • Undertake training and study, as necessary, to ensure that a high level of personal professional knowledge and expertise is achieved and maintained
  • Actively encourage feedback as part of the departmental quality initiative

Ability to plan and organise as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Essential criteria

  • Experienced Sonographer in NHS

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in ultrasound scanning more than 1 year
