Reporting to Application Development Team Manager UK&IE , the Application Development Manager is responsible for the identification, support and delivery of Hach’s projects in both municipal and industrial sectors. This will include but is not limited to, process optimisation solutions such as Real Time Control (RTC), and other large projects in the UK & Ireland. This will include supporting key stakeholders on applications, process control, and optimization.

This position is part of the Sales Department located in Manchester and will be remote.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

  • Identify opportunities for real time control systems or other strategic projects across a wide customer base to include municipal water and industrial companies and their supply chains.
  • Building client relationships both internal and external in order to achieve success.
  • Take the lead in conjunction with other Application Development Managers (ADM) & Sales Account managers with Site Surveys for potential process optimisation or other project solutions.
  • Commissioning and systems integration of process optimization systems and associated equipment on customer's sites in UK & Ireland.
  • Navigate conversations surrounding IT/OT security and take the lead on client discussions in relation to remote access to Hach process control solutions.
  • Collaborate with external Hach and customer partners to deliver technical solutions to the end user.
  • Assist Field Service Engineers and Technical department with commissioning and start ups, attending site visits to coach Engineers in the best practice of commissioning process optimization solutions and troubleshooting.
  • This is a field-based role within the UK and Ireland region (with and you will be responsible for planning your work and delivering solutions for customers
  • Be part of continuous improvement to Hach, its products and services.
  • May assist in identifying and resolving computer and network issues


The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Willingness to travel on a regular basis. Ideally located in the South East due to a large customer base but will also travel across the UK and Ireland.
  • 3 – 5 years professional experience in a services and support environment, water utility, consultant or contractor organisations.
  • Very good SCADA/PLC knowledge desirable, programming is not required.
  • Process engineering skills and expertise particularly in wastewater treatment is desirable
  • Broad experience in Systems Integration combined with project management experience.
