The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior 3D BIM Modelling Lead to oversee and guide a team of 3D BIM modellers in the delivery of high-quality digital models for complex Energy and Resources projects including Hydropower & Dams, Transmission & Distribution and Renewable, Waste & Generation projects, among others.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of 3D modelling workflows using Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk Inventor, and other relevant software.
The successful candidate will have experience leading teams of 3D BIM modellers, demonstrating strong technical expertise and leadership skills in managing and mentoring teams to deliver high-quality BIM models aligned with project requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
As a leader, you will manage and mentor a team of 3D BIM modellers, ensuring efficient workflow distribution and fostering team development. You will provide guidance on BIM best practices and oversee task assignments, progress monitoring, and quality control of models produced by the team. Acting as the primary technical support, you’ll troubleshoot issues and offer solutions, promoting a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge-sharing.
You will lead the production of high-quality 3D models using Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, and Inventor across multiple disciplines. Ensuring models align with project requirements, you will create detailed design documentation and schedules directly from the model. You will ensure adherence to BIM standards, maintain model integrity, and ensure interoperability by applying Open BIM principles. Maintaining consistent templates and performing quality checks will be key to project success. Collaborating with Digital Engineering and Design Leads, you will integrate models into the broader project process and align outputs with project objectives.
You will stay updated on emerging technologies, recommending automation tools and workflows to enhance efficiency. Additionally, you’ll implement scripting solutions, like Dynamo or Python, and provide training to junior modellers to support team growth and capability.
About You
You should have proven experience leading teams of 3D BIM modellers on large-scale infrastructure, energy, or resources projects. Your expertise should include working with Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, Inventor, and other relevant 3D modelling software to create detailed models. Experience working within Common Data Environments (CDEs) such as Autodesk Construction Cloud or ProjectWise is essential.
You must have a strong understanding of data validation, modelling best practices, and quality control to ensure high-quality outputs. As a leader, you will need excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Your ability to mentor and develop teams is critical to ensuring the success of your projects.
The role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and can manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining project quality.
Preferred qualifications include professional certifications in BIM, such as BIM Certification, Autodesk Certified Professional, or buildingSMART accreditation. Familiarity with parametric modelling, scripting, and automation tools (like Dynamo, Python, or Grasshopper) would be advantageous, as well as experience with GIS integration into BIM models and geospatial coordination. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is also preferred.
