An exciting opportunity has arisen for a keen, capable and enthusiastic Health & Safety Apprentice to join our Health, Safety and Environmental Team. You will give support to the team and provide essential IT support on things such as accident reporting, safety information systems and health and safety training resources

We are an ambitious and well-established housing group with deep roots in our three heartland areas of Liverpool, St Helens and Warrington

One of the largest landlords in the North West, we have 1,500 staff, manage more than 40,000 homes, support around than 64,000 customers and invest at least £5m a year into local communities and life changing causes

A social organisation with a commercial focus generating income to drive our activities and deliver lasting change, Torus is a landlord, property developer, commercial contractor and social entrepreneur

The Health, Safety and Environmental Team at Torus deal with a wide audience of managers, employees, contractors, customers and local authorities seeking advice, training and support in every area of the business and our expectation is that you will be a front line response when managers and employees are seeking that support

This apprenticeship is with an established team with a good reputation in the industry, and a proven track record with apprentices. If you join us, you will learn how we are working to make Torus a safer place to work and also making our services safe for our customers and the public

This is an important role in which you will:

Assist in the administration and development of health, safety and environmental procedures and to ensure the monitoring and control of the health and safety management systems across the group

Be proactive and willing to learn and listen in order to progress with training and experience required through work-based learning activities

Achieve a relevant Health & Safety qualification up to NVQ Level 3 standard

Be based at our head office in Liverpool, but will be required to work across our offices in Liverpool, St Helens and Warrington

To be successful in this role you will:

Have GCSE (or equivalent) Level 4 or above in English and Mathematics

Successfully pass a pre-entry assessment via the relevant provider which indicates your ability to complete a relevant health and safety qualification up to NVQ Level 3 standard

You will receive training and support on a range of health and safety topics. We do need someone interested in using and developing their skills in communication, data management and particularly IT

Great Torus people share qualities we value highly. They are problem-solvers, able to work well within our team. They are open, honest and committed to doing the right thing at all times, and they always look for ways to do things better, focused on making sure we achieve our aims. If you can share our way of working, you’ll enjoy working with us

In return, we offer a modern workplace that is challenging, supportive and gives you room to grow your skills – along with a package of benefits that shows how much we value your contribution and care about your wellbeing.
