Job Summary/Goals

The building porter reports to the Facilities Manager and is responsible for assisting the FM Operation delivering services to their Client Thompson Reuters. Working within FM Team, responding to requests whilst carrying out their duties efficiently and effectively

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To assist with the set ups and set backs of event spaces in the multi-function room(s) as required for client events

To assist in moving any small furniture on site

To complete meeting room set ups as required ensuring all rooms are fully equipped and ready to use (including checks on AV equipment)

To support the Facilities Assistant with mailroom operations in processing incoming / outgoing mail / parcels / packages

To ensure all stationery points throughout the floors are well stocked and maintained

To ensure all first aid boxes are checked periodically and to order / top up supplies as required

Maintain recording keeping

To assist the FM team with any other ad-hoc duties


Follow all Health & Safety and Environmental requirements that are defined on work instructions or communicated in training

Report Good catches/Near Misses

To wear protective clothing (PPE) as issued


Experience in facilities, property management or related field

Excellent people skills and ability to interact with a wide range of client staff and demands

PC literacy and proven ability to manage daily activities using various systems

To deal with any complaints that fall within job holder’s duties and report these immediately to the Facilities manager

To perform miscellaneous duties which are within the job holder’s capability according to the needs of the business or as instructed by the FM Team

Additional Duties And Responsibilities

Out of hours and weekend working may be required from time to time as business needs dictate

A can do, positive outlook with basic computer skills. Be physically fit and able to regularly lift weight in excess or 20kg


Must be extremely organised and able to prioritise a demanding workload

Strong attention to detail

Confident personality, able to deal with diverse population and situations

Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity

Able to work on their own initiative

Good verbal communication skills. Team player, hard worker, good interpersonal skills

Customer focused


Competent working in a commercial, office environment

Practical experience and a working knowledge of mailroom and meeting room set-ups / set backs

Previous manual handling experience essential.
