Family Trustee to play an active role on the Board of Trustees, providing insight from parents and carers
What difference will you make?
As a trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your experiences and skills to help the strategic progression of the charity. We are especially looking for someone who can help provide an insight of and a voice for families who support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
What are we looking for?
Essential criteria A passion or interest in supporting the development of children and young people A commitment to the InterAct’s vision, values and mission. Willingness to commit the time required to prepare for and attend board and sub meetings, to read papers and communicate via email/WhatsApp Ability to work as part of a team Experience of governance Record of proven achievement in your own field Ability to operate at a strategic level Knowledge and understanding of the charity sector Knowledge of Essex, it’s communities and ideally it’s services for children and young people
What will you be doing?
Children and young people with SEND struggle to develop relationships, build friendships and connect with their local communities. This increases their sense of isolation and loneliness that in turn impacts upon their physical and mental health as well as puts pressure on their families who are trying to support them. To help address this health care need, InterAct provides opportunities for children and young people in Essex to get out of the house, meet others, develop social skills, and enjoy physical activities and games whilst also engaging with their local community. We’re looking for a volunteer Trustee ideally with experience of using our services who believes these young people would benefit from more access to opportunities that help them become less reliant on care services as they grow older. The role would also help to support our fundraising by assisting with organising small, local events to help ensure our financial viability and increase awareness of our services withn the communities we serve. For this role, we are seeking expertise from someone who has experience of supporting children and young people living with special educational needs or disabilities who is also happy to be involved with organising events.
