Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

Market Veterinary Centre | Barnstaple, Devon

Salary up to £60,000 DOE

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

This is a two-site practice, with your time primarily based in Barnstaple, alongside occasional support at the South Molton branch. While this is a small animal role, Market Vets’ diverse caseload spans small animals, farm work, and even local zoo patients, offering a fantastic opportunity to broaden your clinical experience.

Your day-to-day will provide a great balance of consultations and surgery, with cases ranging from routine procedures to emergency and critical care, ensuring a varied and rewarding workload where no two days are the same. There is also excellent scope to develop and follow your own clinical interests.

The practice is well-equipped with modern facilities, including an in-house laboratory, digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, dental radiography, therapeutic K-laser, and multiparameter monitoring in theatre, supporting thorough and high-quality patient care.

Community is at the heart of Market Vets. The team regularly deliver fortnightly pop-up clinics in Torrington and Lynton, helping to make veterinary care more accessible across North Devon and strengthening their local connections.

You’ll be joining a highly supportive and collaborative team of 12 vets and 13 RVNs, alongside a dedicated client care team and Practice Director. With a certificate holder in exotics already within the team, and a wide range of clinical interests including orthopaedics, dentistry and farm work, this is an ideal environment to learn, develop, and thrive. Support for further study and certificates is actively encouraged.
