Cleveland House is looking to recruit a Unit Nurse Manager to join the team. This is a full time, 38.5 hour role.
Cleveland House is located in Banks, Southport, in the west of Lancashire. It offers residential support for 32 males and females with an acquired brain injury (ABI), progressive neurological condition (PNC) and associated physical health needs. We are located on a residential housing estate.
Our team are dedicated to providing the best possible care to our residents in a safe and homely environment. From personal care, rehabilitation to social activities, we aim to provide a range of services that promote physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing.
We can also support those who have:
- Conditions such as epilepsy
- Difficulties with communication
- Difficulties with swallowing
- May need respiratory support through a ventilator and/or tracheostomy
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents.
As Unit Manager, you will be part of the Senior Nursing Team, assisting the Service Manager and working collaboratively with the Multidisciplinary team and other Unit Leads to ensure a high-quality patient focused service is provided.
- Assist with the clinical management of the unit, maintaining high standards of nursing practice and promoting the philosophy of patient and family centred care
- Support the Service Manager in undertaking personal development reviews, risk assessments and management, managing clinical incidents, department audits, data collection for nursing indicators
- Ensure communication with nurses and healthcare assistants is accurate and is patient centred and safety huddles are carried out on a daily basis.
- Manage challenging and difficult situations with a professional and emotionally appropriate response, ensuring the needs of the patient remain paramount.

Essential criteria
- Current NMC RGN Registration
- Experience of Clinical Supervision and leadership
- Evidence of ongoing development and education
- Change management skills
- Tracheostomy and long term ventilation experience
- Working with multi-disciplinary teams and other professionals.
- Range of clinical experience working with people with Brain injury and neurological conditions.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and problem-solving skills
- Assessment of new patients who have been referred to the service.
- Evidence of leadership, supervisory and management skills
- Creativity, approachable, friendly
- Flexible approach to work
- Able to cope with the physical demands of the post
- Ability to seek and accept support
- Can do attitude
