Training officer - #35287

East Sussex County Council

Date: 2 weeks ago
City: Hailsham
Contract type: Full time

Do you have a passion for training and continued professional development in the workplace?

If so becoming a training officer at Lansdowne Secure Children’s Home could be your calling. Lansdowne is a secure children’s home run by East Sussex which houses some of the most vulnerable young people aged between 10 to 17 from across the UK.

This exciting role involves supporting the recruitment, training, development and retention of staff at Lansdowne. As a talented communicator, you’ll liaise with staff ranging from newly appointed members to senior managers to identify areas of improvement within the team, which will inevitably result in a more enriching experience for the children we care for at Lansdowne.

The successful candidate will have a Level 3 diploma in Residential Childcare, experience working in a children’s residential home or similar and be willing to take a QCF Assessor (if you haven’t already obtained it). You will be a creative thinker and innovator, continuously developing methods to engage staff and children in training exercises. As Lansdowne is a Secure Children’s home it does come with its challenges, including requirement to undertake physical intervention and de-escalation skills. Because of this, you’ll need to have strong self-awareness and be resilient.

Our vision is to provide exceptional care, learning and support to the children placed here, and facilitate their successful resettlement back into the community. We will achieve this through providing an enthusiastic and empathic staff team with an exceptionally well-resourced home. Above all else we will show kindness, and strive for children placed at Lansdowne to feel safe and loved.

Interviews will take place face to face on 1 December.
