The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Embryologist to begin their career in a leading fertility group. Our team of trained and experienced embryologists will provide training in all basic clinical procedures and help the successful candidate work towards HCPC registration. Our trainees are registered on the TFP Training Scheme which provides a structured framework for delivering both practical and theoretical training. As well as training in clinical procedures, trainees will also learn other processes and skills, including patient communication, regulatory compliance, quality control/assurance, donor recruitment, witnessing and traceability.

This is a permanent full time position working 37.5 hours per week.

Weekend and on call working required at approximately 1:4

The Location:

Thames Valley Fertility (TVF) was established in 2017, and due to the passion, expertise and reputation of our team, has already grown into a leading fertility clinic. Providing treatment to both NHS and private patients, TVF performs approximately 550 fresh cycles and 450 frozen cycles per year. Offering a full suite of treatment and diagnostic services, including PGT. Conveniently located on the outskirts of Maidenhead, adjacent to junction 8/9 of the M4, there is ample free parking for staff and patients at the front of the building. Our state- of-the-art laboratory was purpose built in 2017 and is equipped with the latest laboratory equipment and monitoring systems that support us in achieving excellent outcome KPI’s. TVF also has a 5/5 inspection rating from the HFEA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing egg collections, inseminations, fertilization checks, embryo grading/transfer, cryopreservation, andrology and dish preparation.
  • Communicating with patients about their treatment cycle
  • Assisting with quality control and participating in quality assurance
  • Monitoring/maintaining consumables and equipment.
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Completing TFP Training Scheme and working towards HCPC Registration

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a degree in Life Sciences, an MSc or PhD is preferable.
  • Experience in a laboratory environment is preferable.
  • Good manual dexterity skills
  • Must be self-motivated, eager to learn and have excellent time management skills.
  • High level of attention to detailed and focused
  • Resilient and hard working
  • Excellent communication skills

Location: TFP Thames Valley Fertility - Maidenhead

Working Hours: 37.5

Monday to Friday

Weekend and on call working required at approximately 1:4

Salary: Competitive (Depending on experience)

Pension: Dual contribution pension scheme

Holiday Entitlement: 27 Days + Bank holidays (pro rata)
