What This Role Is All About

Test Engineers at Vitality play a vital role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our digital products. They are responsible for planning, designing, and executing comprehensive tests to validate that features are fit for purpose and meet business and customer expectations. Working independently across a range of technologies, they contribute to both product and project-driven change. They also support the development of junior team members and help maintain high testing standards across the organisation.

Key Actions

  • Execute the Full Software Test Lifecycle: Manage all phases of testing including analysis, estimation, planning, execution, defect management, and reporting to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Design and Automate Tests: Create and maintain manual and automated test cases aligned with business requirements. Develop regression packs and integration tests, and contribute to the automation framework.
  • Maintain Testing Standards: Apply Vitality’s testing processes and standards consistently. Use automation and peer reviews to ensure compliance and quality across all deliverables.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with cross-functional teams—such as developers, UX designers, analysts, and product owners—to understand requirements and deliver effective, customer-focused test solutions.
  • Mentor and Support Team Members: Provide guidance and coaching to Associate Test Engineers. Share knowledge, offer feedback, and help build a skilled and collaborative testing team.
  • Develop Technical Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in modern testing tools and platforms, including Selenium, Playwright, Java, C#, and SpecFlow. Continue to build expertise in automation and other specialisms.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Actively identify opportunities to improve testing processes, tools, and practices. Support innovation and efficiency within the team and across the wider technology function.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work effectively with colleagues from various disciplines to ensure seamless delivery and high-quality outcomes.

What do you need to thrive?

  • ISTQB certified tester foundation level.
  • Working towards relevant (where applicable to their role) accreditation / certification
  • Comprehensive Software Testing Expertise
  • Technical Proficiency in Automation and Tools - Working knowledge of C#, SpecFlow, and Java.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
