Overview

The Temporary Works Engineer (TWE) will join the team as well as the Temporary Work Team and support the delivery of the following packages;

The TWE is responsible for ensuring that the contractor's procedures for the control of temporary works are implemented on site. The TWE is responsible for ensuring that a suitable temporary works design is prepared, checked and implemented on site in accordance with the relevant drawings and specification

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the project’s procedures for the control of temporary works are implemented on site
  • Coordinate TW design with TW Designers and Checkers
  • Ensure that the various responsibilities have been allocated and accepted by the relevant parties (Designated Individual, TWS and Construction team etc.)
  • Manage and maintain Temporary Works Register is up to date and that a design brief is prepared by the site team
  • Lead on the development of Temporary Works standards solutions
  • Review Temporary Design Brief and organize TW Design Kick-off with Designer when required.
  • Maintain all records relating to the final design of the Temporary Works including drawings, calculations and other relevant documents
  • Build trust and good relationship with Construction site team and TWS

Experience

  • SMSTS
  • Experience of the relevant types of temporary works, especially formwork, Platform checks, shoring and ideally, steelwork
  • Hold a Degree / HND in civil/ structural engineering. A lower educational level (HNC or HND), is acceptable where a very significant level of experience in a senior technical engineering role can be demonstrated
  • Have good communication skills in English, both written and verbal and the ability to report at both Project and Board level
  • Be familiar with working with 3rd parties such Network Rail / DLR (desirable)

Qualifications

  • Degree / Diploma in Engineering
  • SMSTS / MSIC
  • First Aid Course
  • Lifting Supervisor Certification
  • Temporary Works
  • Coordinator trained (TWC)
  • Chartered or working towards professional status with Engineers Ireland or Institute of Civil Engineers
