Position OverviewA Mobile Building Engineer provides on-site technical support, maintenance, and engineering services across multiple building locations within a designated geographic area. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with travel requirements to ensure optimal building operations and tenant satisfaction.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuilding Systems Management
Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems across assigned properties
Conduct routine inspections of building equipment including boilers, chillers, generators, elevators, and fire safety systems
Monitor and optimize building performance to ensure energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Emergency Response and Repairs
Respond to urgent maintenance requests and emergency calls across multiple sites
Diagnose equipment failures and implement immediate solutions to minimize downtime
Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs
Maintain emergency contact protocols and after-hours response capabilities
Compliance and Safety
Ensure all building systems comply with local codes, regulations, and safety standards
Conduct safety inspections and maintain required documentation
Manage environmental compliance including waste management and hazardous materials handling
Maintain current certifications and licenses as required by jurisdiction
Documentation and Reporting
Complete detailed work orders, maintenance logs, and inspection reports
Track equipment performance data and recommend capital improvements
Maintain accurate inventory of tools, parts, and supplies across locations
Provide regular status updates to property management teams
Experience
3-5 years of building maintenance or facilities management experience
Experience with commercial building systems and equipment
Knowledge of building automation systems and energy management
Previous mobile or multi-site experience preferred
Technical Skills
Proficiency in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems BMS
This role is ideal for experienced building engineers who enjoy variety, travel, and working independently while maintaining multiple client relationships across a portfolio of commercial properties.
