About The Role

Sunbelt Rentals are seeking a highly skilled Technical Project Manager to oversee and deliver innovative, high-quality technical solutions for a diverse range of events. From concept through to completion, you'll lead the planning, coordination, and execution of technical projects, ensuring they meet client expectations and are delivered on time and within budget. Your role will involve close collaboration with internal teams, clients, and contractors—requiring a balance of technical expertise, project management excellence, and people leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning

• Lead projects from initial client briefing to final delivery and post-event debrief.
• Create full 3D visuals of concepts and technical drawings using CAD software.
• Collaborate with business development and commercial teams to produce fully costed, compelling client proposals.
• Ensure accurate technical specifications and equipment selection across departments.
• Oversee quoting and resource deployment, ensuring equipment and personnel are efficiently managed and billed correctly.
• Work closely with operations to coordinate contractors, equipment hires, and logistics.
• Monitor budgets, track project milestones, and ensure all project documentation is accurately maintained.
  
  

Project Delivery

• Act as on-site technical lead during event builds and delivery, managing the technical team and ensuring alignment with the agreed event design.
• Serve as the primary client contact on-site, providing reassurance, updates, and professional support.
• Lead on-site crew, subcontractors, and technical departments to ensure smooth execution.
• Troubleshoot any unexpected technical issues, demonstrating a full understanding of all deployed systems.
• Ensure all health & safety protocols are followed throughout project delivery.
• Conduct post-event client debriefs and provide feedback to internal teams to support continuous improvement.

To succeed as a Technical Manager you will bring the following skill-set and behaviours:

• Proven experience managing technical production in live events, ideally in the corporate sector.
• Strong understanding of all technical event disciplines (Audio, Video, Lighting, Rigging, Set/Staging).
• Confident in technical drawings and 3D visualisation (AutoCAD, Vectorworks, SketchUp, Depence, Capture).
• Experience leading teams of 10+ technicians or subcontractors.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong time management and organisational skills.
• Comfortable being client-facing and building strong relationships.
• Holds a full driving licence.
• Passion for innovation and pushing the boundaries of live event delivery.
• Team-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently when required.
