Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Technical Clerk to contribute to our Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
Role Purpose: Technical Clerk provides critical project support across engineering, construction, and administrative functions, ensuring the accurate control, coordination, and tracking of technical information and project data.
The role plays a key part in enabling efficient project delivery by maintaining high standards of control records and associated data and actions, supporting engineering teams, and driving a “Right First Time” approach through attention to detail, proactive working and team collaboration.
This position contributes directly to project quality, compliance, and performance by ensuring that information is accurate, accessible, and effectively managed at all stages of the project lifecycle

What you'll be doing
Quality Management
- Record and maintain accurate data relating to project documentation including
- Ensure documents are correctly version-controlled and compliant with standards
- Maintain structured filing systems for both electronic and hard-copy documentation
- Ensure audit readiness and compliance with internal and external requirements
- Maintain accurate project trackers (e.g. document registers, progress, status
- Input and validate data across project applications (e.g., Easy Plant, Document
- Contribute to report data, updates for line management
- Identify discrepancies, gaps, or risks in data and escalate accordingly
- Support engineers, superintendents, and supervisors with site documentation
- Data collection and input/upload from site activities
- Ensure accurate as-built data is recorded and maintained
- Act as a facilitator point between engineering, construction, and support functions
- Support meetings, record actions, and track deliverables through to completion
- Ensure timely communication of project information across stakeholders
- Build strong working relationships to support collaborative project delivery
- Raise orders/requests
- Facilitate new starter introductions and arrange access to relevant systems
- Assist with labour coordination, timesheets and general site administration
- Consistently delivers accurate, high-quality outputs
- Identifies and resolves errors before they impact the project
- Maintains control over documentation and data integrity
- Takes responsibility for assigned tasks and areas
- Ensures trackers and records are always current and complete
- Follows tasks through to completion without requiring escalation
- Anticipates project needs and acts in advance
- Actively chases information, approvals, and responses
- Communicates clearly and professionally with all stakeholders
- Builds effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams
- Supports a positive, solution-focused working environment
Essential
- Strong IT skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel and Office 365 applications
- Knowledge of document control processes
- Excellent organisational, time management and attention to detail skills
- Strong written and confident verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask, show initiative and prioritise workloads
- Proactive problem-solving approach
- Experience working within a technical, data management, engineering, or
- Experience supporting engineering or E&I teams
- Strong collaborative / customer focus
- Knowledge of SharePoint
