Would you like to be part of SSE and join our maintenance and inspection team? We are looking for a Substation Inspector to join our team based in the Ridgeway area.
The Role
- You will carry out inspections of equipment at substation sites and ensure sites are cleared of vegetation, this is important to allow access to the site and equipment at all times. This will cover both distribution substations (11kV) and primary substations (33kV) across the Ridgeway area.
- Affectively you will own the inspections round and be responsible for the quality and efficiency of inspections and clearance across those substations.
- The information you collate will be accurate to ensure we comply with health and safety regulations and documented in accordance with required standards, methods and procedures.
- You will be able to identify potential faults with the distribution network and follow the escalation process to get resource to site whilst being committed to working safely at all times.
- This is predominately a lone working role, and you must be self-motivated and driven to meet the tight deadlines where you will identify and implement innovative and effective business improvements.
To be considered for this role, we would love you to:
- Have an understanding of the ESQC Regulations. Safety is one of our key priorities, so you should have the ability to risk assess activities throughout your working day and to work within our Health and Safety guidelines.
- Have basic IT skills to allow inspection data to be collected on a hand-held device as well as using Office 365 applications, such as Outlook and Excel.
- Have the ability to work flexibly to meet business requirements.
- Hold excellent customer service, organisational and problem solving skills and enjoy working outdoors in all conditions and have knowledge of map reading.
- Have a basic level of fitness. This role is physically demanding which involves the use of power tools such as hedge cutters and brush cutters, as well as other hand held tools.
