Job Overview
We are seeking dynamic and motivated nurses to become part of a well-established and progressive Ophthalmology team.
We are a busy outpatient's department undertaking the assessment and care of Ophthalmic patients, by continually adapting the service to meet and enhance the care we provide to our patients. We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic team players with a flexible approach, excellent communication skills and the ability to show initiative.
The eye treatment centre encompasses the Ophthalmic outpatient department, the Mobile Macular Unit (MMU) and the ETC ward both at Frimley Park Hospital and Heatherwood. The MMU moves weekly between Basingstoke, Farnborough, Aldershot and Camberley and the ETC ward at Heatherwood. The post holder will rotate between all clinical areas within this very busy fast paced speciality working 3-5 shifts a week between 0700-2000 Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend work required

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Clinical - Assist Ophthalmic staff with specialist procedures: laser, Intravitreal injections, minor operations etc.
Leadership - Take an active part in achievement reviews, nurturing, developing and supporting staff to meet their personal objectives
Training - Contribute to departmental training sessions and actively participate in induction programmes for new starters
Communication - Promote good working relationships with the Multidisciplinary team

- As an integral member of the Ophthalmic nursing team, the post holder will provide support to other members of the multidisciplinary team in the provision of high quality care
- Carry out specialised Ophthalmic tests and procedures that contribute to the efficient running of the service
- Act as a role model, delivering care with empathy and compassion
- Teach and supervise junior staff, students and unregistered nursing staff
- Be accountable for care or any omissions of care that you delegate to others

Essential criteria
- RGN with current UK NMC qualification.
- Evidence of further professional study
- Preceptorship undertaken or undertaking.
- ENB 998 or Mentor Preparation course D32/22/A Unit course
Essential criteria
- Min 6 months NHS experience
- Ability to work in a team
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
- Knowledge of current issues in NHS
- Research experience
- Ophthalmology experience
