About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SR163 Site Manager to join our team for an exciting National Grid substation build project. As a Tier 1 Principal Contractor, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions. This role involves overseeing all civil engineering works outside the substation compound, ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise all civil engineering activities outside the substation compound.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other key stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations on-site, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.
  • Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Monitor project progress, prepare reports, and communicate updates to senior management.
  • Manage subcontractors and ensure they meet performance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Resolve any on-site issues or conflicts that arise during the project.
  • Ensure compliance with National Grid standards and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on large-scale civil engineering projects, preferably within the power or utilities sector.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Valid CSCS card and other relevant certifications.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • All necessary tickets and authorisationsforSR163 nomination, including:
    • NSI6 & NSI8 course
    • NG Person ticket
    • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
    • National Grid HSG47
    • Environmental Awareness
    • First Aid
    • Impressed Voltage

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working on substation build projects.
  • Knowledge of National Grid standards and requirements.

Desired Skills and Experience

What You'll Be Doing:
Overseeing all civil works outside the substation compound
Coordinating with engineers, PMs, and stakeholders
Enforcing HSE standards and ensuring compliance with National Grid regulations
Managing subcontractors and resolving on-site challenges

What You'll Need:
Proven experience in large-scale civils (power/utilities preferred)
SR163 nomination-ready (NSI6, NSI8, NG Person, SMSTS, etc.)
Strong leadership, communication & problem-solving skills
Full UK driving license
